The artist has handed over the entirety of his £25,000 award winnings to the MVT, which operates to save the UK's small music venues.

Fender was presented with the prize on October 16 as his third album his work was chosen as the best record of the previous year.

He has decided to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the essential function small stages played in his initial steps.

"I personally couldn't be pursuing this success if it hadn't been for all the performances I performed around the area, and elsewhere, when I was starting out," remarked the artist. "These venues are renowned, but they are facing challenges."

Since the start of 2023, over 150 of these spaces have permanently closed – approximately 16% of the total UK scene.

Recently, well-known musicians including Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its efforts to support the industry, by applying a modest fee to their ticket prices, which goes to help independent venues.

Sam Fender also joined in, raising over £100k on his 2024 arena tour to support 38 small stages across Britain.

The donation supported spaces that were facing imminent closure due to challenges caused by water damage, blazes and personal losses, as well as permit problems, court cases and noise complaints.

Some locations obtained funding support in improving infrastructure and sound and lighting systems that helped musicians and fans.

"The notion that funds from performances in major spaces supports the smaller venues, where it all starts for musicians like me, is just common sense," Sam Fender has said.

He is far from the only musician to contribute his honor funds to charitable organizations.

When the band earned the trophy in the mid-90s for their record Different Class, vocalist the singer announced that the band would donate their prize money to the charity War Child.

During 2002, rapper and singer the artist split her award among a few good causes, such as the children's charity and a Sickle Cell organization.

"Additionally, I donated a £1,000 to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics class, because I practiced gymnastics when I was growing up and they lacked updated gear," Ms Dynamite shared with the media.

Previously, the band donated their funds to the youth organization that developed their band, in addition to other independent music bodies.

Also the 1994 recipients they contributed their prize to a charity for MS after a close contact was diagnosed the illness.

"Receiving the award was ample," stated singer the singer. "The prize was the bonus but we didn't require the extra, because we had the cake. So our success touched somebody else's life."

Recently, the trust revealed it had saved a couple of grassroots venues in that region, by bringing them into community ownership.

The Joiners in that area and the other in that location were purchased under the public acquisition initiative, which is backed by the arts council and enthusiasts who purchase "shares" in the venues.
