Since the moment last year that it was officially declared that Amazon would be creating a digital series adapted from BioWare's ME saga, fans speculated if it had the guts to tell an new story and avoid centering around Commander Shepard, the customizable hero from the initial games. In a blog post this week, they obtained their answer.

BioWare senior producer Mike Gamble affirmed the show would "delve into a brand-new story within the series' history, and will be placed subsequent to the first trilogy." The post continues, "This will not be a repetition of Commander Shepard’s story – because ultimately … that’s YOUR story, isn’t it?"

Ostensibly, this suggests the show may be about the peoples of the Milky Way restoring the cosmos in the wake of destruction wrought by the reapers. It could also be set hundreds of years in the tomorrow, like Mass Effect: Andromeda. "Post the original trilogy" provides plenty for the mind. Not any actors have been declared so far, but Star Trek Beyond screenwriter Doug Jung was selected to be series lead and executive producer in June. Daniel Casey is furthermore a writer and executive producer on the show.

Concerning the forthcoming Mass Effect game, Gamble's update keeps quiet about too many details. In response to the rumors and speculation that BioWare could be divested as part of EA's massive sale to private investors, including Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, Gamble reiterates "the forthcoming Mass Effect title is in development, and EA and BioWare are still dedicated to sharing further tales in this setting."

BioWare is "heads-down and focused exclusively on Mass Effect," hinting that the team has "plenty of galaxy to address, many features to build, and many love stories to determine" for the forthcoming release. "We look forward by what we’re building, and we guarantee you: when we’re set, it’ll be a lot of fun to reveal."

Multiple characters are emphasized throughout the announcement, and combined they form "N7 Krogan URL." It remains mysterious what this is pointing to, although it's definitely indicating something — the blog post finishes with a teasing P.S. noting, "Note: there is zero hidden project content to be gleaned by whatever I’m saying now, I promise."

The Krogan species are highlighted in free illustrations EA released for followers to obtain in honor of N7 Day. Named "Internal Conflict," the image depicts several Krogan warriors in battle. Combined with the "URL Krogan N7" message, it's probable a further minor breadcrumb on the journey to the upcoming Mass Effect.

The seventh of November represents N7 Day every year, a time for BioWare and Mass Effect followers to honor the galactic adventure. Normally the time that BioWare has hinted at the next new release, like how in 2023 it displayed an N7 character in a stylist coat.
