A Truss Talk Series Analysis: Inept Rants emanating from a Closet

In the lead-up to the debut of her new YouTube series, a particular refrain circulated time and time again: “They tried to silence her.” As it happens they didn’t need to, because Truss was perfectly capable of managing that task independently.

A Delayed Debut

Episode 1, she announced on social media, would premiere Friday evening at six. Except, at the appointed hour, there was no sign of it. After a brief delay with still no sign, her devotees started to get restless. “Where’s your show?” they tweeted. Additional minutes elapsed. “Seriously, Liz, pull it together,” sighed another. Nearing half past it was starting to look that her command of YouTube’s upload procedure as she did of the British economy.

Then, however, miracle of miracles, the series finally appeared. A full hour late. One might guess since she has yet to master the concept of daylight saving back from British Summer Time.

A Barking Mad First Address

Therefore, a rocky beginning. Yet what came next was perhaps the barking mad introductory rants in recent memory. “One would need to be consuming mainstream media to remain ignorant of the country's downward spiral,” Truss began, sitting in what appeared to be a cupboard furnished with the sort of books acquired for decorative length.

The theme of the monologue became obvious: The nation is in a dire state. “Local shops are closing. Major corporations are departing … People are having to pull their own teeth out,” she declared. She described a lawless, leftist, religiously extreme nightmare. If they made that political comedy today, she suggested, the iconic bureaucrat would now be portrayed as “a radicalised trans activist”. Furthermore, the public don’t realise this because the media, and their focus on artisan bakeries and secure homes, decline to report honestly.

Her online program is motivated solely by her craving for approval across the Atlantic, despite the fact that the primary detail the U.S. public recalls concerning her pertains to an incident where she displayed her book inverted during a Fox News appearance.

A Transatlantic Audience in Mind

Here the true nature became apparent the program's core objective. Shunned in the UK to such an extent that she went unrecognized at a public event, Truss is now pinning her future on being embraced by right-wing America. Her opening monologue essentially constituted a standard checklist of Maga stereotypes concerning Britain. Her ambition is to become Trump’s Lord Haw-Haw, or at least an iteration of that infamous figure who looked and sounded as if a toolbox had fallen on him.

Awkward Interviews

With the rant concluded, Truss started to interview her guests. Initial guest was Matt Goodwin, billed as “Britain’s number one Substack”. One must presume he participated because, for a strangely prolonged duration, the focus remained solely on her expression. On one occasion, as soon as Goodwin started talking, the camera lingered on the host for a full 40 seconds. I don’t know about the experience of that length of time observing Liz Truss wordlessly blinking and gulping, yet it is a truly unsettling image. One would not desire it for anyone.

Subsequent to a quick conversation with a second guest – an online broadcaster wearing a 'FREEDOM' top – it was on to the former Brexit Party MEP a certain politician, who predictably ranted about immigration. The standout moment regarding this discussion is how it ended, terminating suddenly at the point where she began traveling down a questionable path about how to “encourage” documented foreigners to depart Britain. Whatever could have happened? Could her words have been considered over the line, or perhaps that darn Deep State silencing her again? It is likely a mystery.

A Sadly Comic Endeavor

It is remarkable to consider this entire project has its genesis in Liz Truss wants America to love her, even though the main fact that America knows about her is she held her own book upside down on a prominent U.S. channel. Consequently she is consigned to delivering tirades from a tiny space via the web, like the first person to die in a disaster film. It would be sorrowful were it not so utterly absurd.

Episode 2 of The Liz Truss Show is set to premiere the following Friday evening. That is, assuming that the host has mastered the functioning of timepieces prior to that date.
